David Byrne

I saw David Byrne on the subway on Friday!

I sat down and right away I recognized him. I was stunned by how attractive he was. I wanted to say hi or just listen to his conversation, just to stay around him for a while. It's such a strange thing, but I was drawn to him. I really did want to ride on just to listen to him talk. Of course I couldn't hear anything he was saying even though he was sitting right across from me. I made sure not to bother him or make a big deal because I can only imagine how hard it must be for him to have some time to just ride the subway and not get mobbed. Well I would say that's the coolest sighting I've had in NY so far. What a weekend!

Handsome Boy Modeling School: White People

Man, this CD is great. I was hoping that it would be as good as the first one (So... how's your girl?). These guys are incredible. These tracks are hilarious and amazinly good music. Dan the Automator and Prince Paul have been around for ages and I hope to god they don't go anywhere before I die. Also check out "Lovage: Music to make love to your old lady by".

'Yo, why they say 'Never say never' when they know that ain't right?, 'Cause to 'Never say never' you done said 'Never' twice'. -Mos Def
>>Go here<< I think this picture says it all. This site is the best site around y'all.

The Roots Live

This site is dedicated to sharing live shows from Hip-Hop's Greatest THE ROOTS. This has been one of my favorite finds lately. The only problem is that the site is a little slow loading, but it's worth the wait.

Peep This
Mark Romanek's uncut Jay-Z video for 99 Problems. Check out his whole website too, it's worth some time.

OK, so the good music keeps on coming. I got me the new Roots CD yesterday for my birthday! The Tipping Point is amazing. Does anyone know what Black Thought is saying in "Don't Say Nuthin'"? They are giving away $4000, so check out thier website @ the roots @.

And check this out. ?uestlove's (no that's not a type-o) record library! I've seen the roots more than once in concert and they give the BEST live show I've ever been to. I was completely blown away. I was disappointed with the GangStarr, Mos Def, etc... concert I went to at BBKings. It was worth it for sure, especially to hear Mos Def. I really need to see more of him before long. The Roots entire concert was great! The sound was great, the vibe was great, the croud was awesome. I saw them once at the knitting Factory. I was right in the front row (which you know if you read my website archives).

Anyone out there sick of wack rap? Can I get a witness?

Marvin GayeMarvin Gaye - Trouble Man Soundtrack
One of my all time favorite songs is
Trouble Man, but the entire soundtrack is worth listening to.
It's Marvin Gaye meets Shaft.  Very groovy.

Ibrahim FerrerIbrahim Ferrer - Buena Vista Social Club Presents ...
"From the first tune, the Afro/son "Bruca Manigua," you'll be attracted to the refinement and assurance of this sentimental singer, his Buena Vista Social Club rhythm section cohorts, pianist Ruben Gonzalez, and additional musicians, who combine to generate the pleasing melodies. This CD is a rare and delicious treat." - Nancy Ann Lee

Public EnemyPublic Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
Can't say anything more than Chuck D is a Contemporary Prophet of Rage. Amazing lyrical message, unsurpassable flow, and ear drum terrorizing beats.

Black StarBlack Star - Mos Def And Talib Kweli Are Black Star
This CD represents the best of the old school of hip-hop coupled with the lyrical mastery of two underground street geniuses. Kweli's similes and metaphors will make ya shake ya head, wonderin what just happened, and Mos Def's delicious flow, will put new meaning to the word EMCEE!

CymondeCymonde - Cymonde
"... a 60's Brazillian group with a funky unique sound."

Eco de sombrasSusana Baca - Eco de Sombras
"It is said that passion intensifies with restraint; then the beautifully cool vocals of Suzanna Baca over deep Afro-Peruvian grooves is as emotional as it gets..." - David Byrne

NIN

Nine Inch Nails - Things Falling Apart
"Trent Reznor's new album as Nine Inch Nails is a collection of radically reworked and remixed tunes from his previous outing, The Fragile." - Paul Semel
